vartan (paraphilia); is another jackass! he comes from a family who used to be part of the merchant ring, but was kicked out some forty odd years ago for doing something terrible which i have not fully decided yet, but no doubt got all the other merchants + the vendor himself pissed off. the story as his family tells it, however, is a different one that's spun to put them into a good light, which means that vartan's grown up with not only an extremely powerful stream of magic in his blood and just at his fingertips, he's also grown up with a sense of superiority. intense superiority.
